Li Chongyuan: The Prince Recalled ~ 《忆王孙·夏词》 李重元 with English Translations

李重元的《忆王孙》原来是有春、夏、秋、冬四季词的，都是以女子的口吻述说四季景色，抒发相应的情感。这一首夏词，先写小池塘里，风中的水草猎猎有声，雨后的荷花更散发出沁人的芬芳，使得满院都是荷花的香味。

风蒲猎猎小池塘，
过雨荷花满院香。
沈李浮瓜冰雪凉，
竹方床，
针线慵拈午梦长。

Song of Summer

With wind and rain the rushes rustle in small pool;
The courtyard filled with fragrance lotus blooms spread.
The sinking plums and floating melons are ice-cool.
In my square bamboo bed,
My needlework put away,
I take a long long nap on the noonday.
